2004 Grant Program
|
The Neighborhood Business Association Grant Program provides business district associations with seed money for projects that promise positive long-term impact. $25,000 is available each year with a $5000 maximum amount per applicant. Look at the album of projects, then check the requirements for applying.
Eight Portland area Business Districts will improve their neighborhoods in 2004 thanks to $26,500 in grants presented at the APNBA's January meeting.

Mayor Katz started the program in 1995 and is pleased to see the many improvements to the city’s Business Districts that have resulted. She stated, “What has been clear all these years is that a little bit of money can make miracles happen on your city streets”. The City allocates $25,000/year from its General Fund to PDC for the Business District Grant Program. PDC passes the funds to APNBA, who administers the project.
In the ten years of the grant program, APNBA has awarded $245,529.00 and business associations contributed nearly three times that amount, $607,414.00, from matching funds, volunteer time and/or in-kind donations.
New banners will be hanging on Fremont (the Sabin Neighborhood), in the Gateway area and on Woodstock. A new mural design, chosen by the community, will replace the faded one that had to be removed at the 39th and Division Rite Aid. Banner extensions and sandwich boards will be available to let the neighbors and community know when events are planned in the 42nd Ave Business District and a canopy will provide cover for activities. Mississippi Avenue will be adding distinctive sign caps. The holidays will bring out decorations to add to existing banners in the Belmont area and across the street cables with garlands will be placed on Hawthorne Boulevard.
